psychic plastic surgery?

31 Jan 2006

It is a chilly crisp night in sleepy Somerset. Well nearly morning, 1am in fact and the first minute I have had to write my blog!

I have been holed up in bed with a throat infection but am now finally feeling on the mend and have loads to tell you

The cats are at my feet, Ruby the Jack Russell is laying on the leather sofa snoozing and Leopold the giant Schnauzer has his head stuck through the cat flap.

First things first I apologise for not writing sooner. Also I apologise for the fact that the indicator board on the 0906 psychic line has been down for so long. This is to make it bigger, better than before and also to be able to log when I am on!

The line is now working back to normal so you can still use it and we have fixed the glitch which made it very occasionally difficult to get through, no more hang ups no more wasted time. Hooray!

The new moon on Sunday has given me the incentive to get back on track and try to form some sort of order! I have just redecorated the office and intend to keep up to date with all filling!

The energy of the beginning of the year has added energy and determination to shift you forward. We move from the Sun in tenacious Capricorn giving you the stubbornness that you need to change, to Sun in Aquarius which (now the foundations have been built) gives you space to create your dream of the year.

Plastic Surgery ‘make me perfect’ etc

I heard a great comment the other day on radio 4. A young folk singer whose name escapes me said ‘ we have to accept life is surreal and abstract, we all spend too much time trying to make it normal rather than enjoying it for what it is’ or words to that effect. This is so true.

Now the Ascension is approaching and we are in the grip of what some soothsayers call ‘the grand irrationality even the great and the good are appearing to us as irrational or bonkers! Others no doubt find us changeable and unpredictable. This is a sign of the times so enjoy it and go along for the ride. We are born in interesting times ( a Chinese curse is ‘may you be born in interesting times’!) life is no longer functioning in the same way it used to.

We have whales in the Thames, tsunamis, global warming, New Orleans under water, London bombings and on the bright side Gay marriages, Charlie and Camillas marriage, MP’s in big brother, Angelina and Brad and less judgement in general so we can all be more ourselves without fear of reprisal.

However there is one thing, which is ringing serious alarm bells, that I can t, seem to flow with. It just awakens my sleeping feminist roots and gets me screaming at the telly!

Has anyone noticed recently the sinister plethora of plastic surgery programmes? I was temporarily mesmerised by this mass mutilation when I realised with a start what this means to our culture and particularly to our children. We are sending the message out that perfection (exists) and is only skin deep. That to be beautiful is our chief aim and if you have that, life is tickety boo. These shows indicate that happiness comes from a pair of fake boobs no wrinkles.

I read in the paper that children as young as 9 are requesting plastic surgery or hate their bodies! Has the world really gone this mad? Now I know that we ALL have freedom of choice and as an adult if you want plastic surgery good for you, BUT this latest television obsession could have a huge destructive impact on our kids minds.

Now who knows? I may opt for it some day, next week, or in ten years. I may decide to get something nipped or tucked? As a grown woman that is my choice. There is a difference between adult personal choice and mass produced cultural brainwashing. Imagine if you are growing up now, young and overweight or with the usual imperfections of adolescence? these programmes will bring untold misery. I do try to stay non judgemental and detached but if you feel strongly about it ring up the front desk of the channel to log your comment.

I love celebrity fit club as it is about self-esteem and health and fully support the wondrous Russell Grant for taking the challenge. According to the doctor on the show his health predictor said Russell is already dead! So from that point of view loosing weight in a healthy way is good. Looking good is good, feeling good on the inside, essential,to true happiness!
Much love to you and speak soonMichele xxxxxxxxxxx
